Meet Amy Turner
Graduation Year: 2016
Major: Physics
Summer plans? I will be doing gravitational physics research at the University of Glasgow in Scotland.
Who has been your post influential professor at Olaf and why? Professor Engbrecht, Doc. from the Physics department. He’s really good at teaching, but also really good at making it fun. He’s still one of my mentors and constantly has his door open to help his students.
How are you involved on campus? I am in Ole Choir and I’m on the ultimate frisbee team. I also TA for the “physics for majors” freshmen course.
If you could give a freshman advice for life as an Ole, what would it be? Take advantage of every opportunity you’re given.
Why did you choose St. Olaf? The community is great; it’s an awesome place to be.
What’s your favorite part about St. Olaf? The people. They are all wonderful and loving.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why? New Zealand. It has everything: snow, beaches, the city, penguins, people are super nice. I would love to go on adventures every single day because it seems like the place to do that. And Lord of the Rings, duh.
