Year: Sophomore

Major: Currently still undeclared. Looking at doing a double major in History and Political Science

If you could travel anywhere where would you go?

I would love to go to New Zealand and Australia. They both sound like such beautiful places and I would love to see where they filmed the Lord of the Rings movies! I also would travel to England because I love spending time in London.

Describe your overall experience at St. Olaf: Everyone here has been really friendly and welcoming. It is a really nice community to be a part of.

Morning person or night-owl?

Night-owl definitely. Just ask my roommate. She will tell you I am definitely not a morning person.

Sushi or cooked fish?

Sushi!!!

Are you involved in any clubs at St. Olaf? If so which ones?

Yes I am, specifically the St. Olaf Equestrian Club. I do riding lessons and was volunteering at a stables that does therapeutic riding programs but their season ended so I am not doing that currently.

What is your favorite past time activity?

Reading, watching Netflix, hanging out with friends, rock climbing, baking

What is some advice you have for college freshman or prospective students?

Recognize that it will take you awhile to get use to things your first year. First semester is hard. It is a big transition. You have to give yourself time to adjust. Things may not be great right away but that is ok. It is normal. Also seek out help when you need it. There are a lot of great resources available to you but you have to reach out to them.

Favorite class taken at St. Olaf so far: I’ve loved a lot of my history classes. I took two courses in American History last year and my professor was great. I am also taking an Ancient History seminar this semester called Alexander and Kleopatra which I am really enjoying because our class is really small so we all know each other and have great, fun discussions.

What do you look forward to after attaining a college degree?

I don’t know what I want to do after college yet but I look forward to finding something that feels fulfilling, satisfying and makes me happy while I am doing it.

Favorite quote: Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times if one only remembers to turn on the light- Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, J.K. Rowling

Food that you absolutely can’t stand: Tomatoes are gross.

Favorite season: I don’t really know. There are great things about all of them. Maybe Spring?

Favorite activity to do with friends: Hanging out and eating pizza, watching and going to movies

Favorite throwback memory to high school: Oh man there are so many, it is hard to choose. From the top of my head though probably countless dinners out and hiking with my friends.

How has the Hill helped you further a passion in your life?

The Hill has definitely helped me pursue multiple passions. I have a lot of different interests and have really appreciated the freedom and flexibility the Hill has given me to pursue and try many different things.

Is there anything at St. Olaf that you look forward to pursuing more?

I am enjoying having the chance to just try a bunch of different things. So I am looking forward to doing that more, taking classes and trying things that maybe I wouldn’t otherwise.

How has St. Olaf helped you develop your future plans?

I don’t know what I want to do yet so I don’t really have a future plan as of right now. St. Olaf has been helping me gain and develop skills that I can apply to any future endeavors.
