Taylor’s Tunes: New year, new music

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at St Olaf chapter.

Hey Her Campus Readers! It’s been awhile since I’ve posted but that doesn’t mean the music world has slowed down. Over the month of January internet sensation Lana Del Rey dropped her highly anticipated album (not long after her questionable performance on SNL though), M.I.A. dropped her single “Bad Girls” (not long before she flipped the bird on national television during the Super Bowl) and Bon Iver (who took home awards just last night for Best New Artist and Best Alternative Music Album)“kind of said ‘fuck you’ a little bit” to the Grammy’s after they approached him about performing during the ceremony.

Of course, countless other artists released albums, announced tours, won awards or sadly passed away during the past month. Instead of simply telling you what you may have missed this past month, I strongly encourage you to find out for yourself. If you’re interested in music related news, there’s a plethora of sites out there for your consumption. www.npr.org has a great section on recent music, www.stereogum.com deals with the alternative stuff and if you’re looking for music that’s even more out there in the Euro/electronica/grime realm you should check out www.factmag.com.

Check back next week for a fuller post. Until then, find some brand new music for yourselves to enjoy!
