Meet Will Seabrook your Student Government Vice President!
Where are you living this year? Sextet in Ytterboe with my close lads: DonDon, Uncle, Jojo, Mama Hynes 2.0, and “Nick”.
How are you involved on campus? I am a DJ on KSTO called “Winn-Sickle” where Jordan Lutter and I unpack the world for you so you don’t have to. I am on the Mock Trial team and performed as an attorney and a witness. I play on intramural teams including the illustrious “SquadGoals_69” and we were better than the other 68 teams that paved the way to greatness. I also am the Vice President for the Student Government Association where I serve as Chair of the Student Senate. In badminton, there exists a phrase “in your wheelhouse” to suggest an area that you are able to smash the birdie to the ground for an absolute winner and I believe that EVERYONE has a wheelhouse and I want people to find their wheelhouse. I believe that SGA helps students find their own wheelhouse in this community of St. Olaf which is why I do the things I do.
What is the best thing you’ve learned during your time at Olaf? Trying something out is worth it. We often think that failing is bad and not how champions work, but I realized that people who do well often fail and need others to survive.
What do you plan to do following graduation? Graduate school in Public Policy with the desire to work in Washington D.C.
Celeb crush? Woodrow Wilson for the international diplomacy and Emma Watson for the passion of gender equality and magical powers.
If you could name one person at Olaf to be a future president of the US of A, who would it be and why? Randy Clay – He is able to listen and understand the will of the people as a true democracy should. Also, the country needs more Ferndale.
Any advice to the younger students? Talk to everyone and don’t be afraid because I tried being afraid and it was boring. #notworth. Try studying in a bunch of different places and see which are best for you.
Have you studied abroad, If so where? World Courts in Europe – Geneva, Switzerland; Strasbourg, France; Luxembourg, Luxembourg; The Hague, Netherlands. We studied International Law and sat in on cases, talked with legislators and attorneys and developed a deeper appreciation of these global happenings.
Where is your favorite place on campus? Office of Student Activities (BC 107) – dance parties, candy, and free stuff. What more could you possibly want?
What are your majors? Economics, Political Science, and Finance Concentration
