I am Disney-obsessed. Everything Disney has been in my blood since I was two years old, from watching the films over and over, to singing the songs non-stop. Over winter break, my mom and I took a vacation to the one and only Walt Disney World. I had been a few times before, but I was a kid then. At first, I was extremely excited to go to all the parks again just like I did as a child. But then I became worried that those experiences wouldn’t be the same because I was an adult now. But fear not, there are still plenty of things to do as an adult in Disney World, and I love it there now more than ever. Here are the top ten things I found to be my favorite, and some recommendations if you find yourself going there in the future:
Â
1. Wandering the Epcot Countries
As a kid, I never appreciated the countries in Epcot because I thought there wasn’t much to do, and I was only interested in rides. But as an adult, there is a ton to do in the countries. You can spend all day walking around, learning about the countries, through museums, video galleries, and best of all, the food! The different types of food in Epcot range heavily so there is something for everyone, especially the adventurous. You can taste both food and drink that will transport you to the country. Bonus: If you go when the Food and Wine Festival is happening, there is even more food and drinks to try!
I recommend: France, Great Britain, and China
2. Certain Rides are Still Fun
There are some rides adults never want to ride, like the infamous Dumbo, as you stand in line for an hour to wait for a 1-minute ride that just goes round and round. But there are also rides that some kids wouldn’t want to go on that are more for older kids and adults. These higher thrill rides are so much fun, but if you want to also ride some family-friendly rides that are sure to make you feel the magic, I’ve recommended some of those too!
I recommend: Thrill Rides – Expedition Everest, Tower of Terror, Splash Mountain
I recommend: Family Rides – Slinky Dog Dash, Seven Dwarves Mine Train, Soarin’
3. Disney Springs
As an adult, you can appreciate Disney’s shopping and dining area much more. Formerly named Downtown Disney, Disney Springs has gone through a renovation the last few years. With new shops, restaurants, and experiences, everyone is sure to find something they love. This is also a way to take a break from the hectic bustle of the theme parks.
I recommend: Disney Style, World of Disney, and Planet Hollywood
4. Shows at the Theme Parks
There are constant shows going on at every theme park, every day. These shows are at the level of Broadway shows and are done phenomenally. Bonus: Every year Disney World hosts the Festival of the Arts, where almost every day there are concerts given by Broadway performers!
I recommend: The Lion King, Finding Nemo the Musical, and Beauty and the Beast Live

5. Dine at Fancy Restaurants
There are your typical kiosks and carts, and even some simple, family style restaurants that serve some delicious meals. But if you have the opportunity, dine somewhere where the experience is amazing. It will cost more but trust me, it is worth it!
I recommend: Be Our Guest Restaurant, The Hollywood Brown Derby, and Tiffins Restaurant
6. Meet Your Favorite Characters
A lot of people think waiting in line to meet characters is for kids, but I promise that you won’t be the only adult in the line. And, adults have their own version of dressing up like the characters called Disney Bounding. This idea takes your average costume and flips it on its head, using everyday clothing items to dress like the character. Plus, you will have the perfect photo op!
I recommend: Meet Mickey and Minnie, Meet Olaf, and Meet Gaston
7. Parades and Fireworks and Magic, Oh My!
To those who think the magical aspect of Disney may be gone when they go to the park as an adult, could not be more wrong. As soon as you walk into the park you are overwhelmed by everything magic, from a stage show at the castle to open the park to an amazing fireworks display to close the park and end your day. The parades and shows at the castle bring out your inner child and help you believe in magic again.
I recommend: Happily Ever After (by far the best fireworks show Disney has ever done), Festival of Fantasy Parade, and Fantasmic.
