Most of us know her as Aunt Becky from “Full House,” but famous actress and mother Lori Loughlin is in big trouble, mister. On Wednesday, news broke of a college admissions scandal involving Loughlin and around 40 others, including Felicity Huffman from “Desperate Housewives.” Reports say that Lori and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, paid a $500,000 bribe to have both of their daughters designated as recruits to the University of Southern California crew team. Have they ever rowed in their life? Unlikely. Loughlin appeared in federal court on March 13 and was later released on $1 million bond. She is to appear in court again on March 29. Sources say that the Hallmark Channel has cut ties with Loughlin in light of the scandal. Don’t worry though, Hallmark never fails to disappoint with the rom-coms!

If you are unfamiliar with the daughters, their names are Olivia Jade (19) and Isabella Rose (20). Olivia is well-known for her YouTube channel, which contains a very ironic video from a few months ago. In a post from August 14, 2018, she said, “I don’t know how much of school I’m gonna attend but I’m gonna go in and talk to my deans and everyone, and hope that I can try to balance it all. But I do want the experience of like game days, partying…I don’t really care about school, as you guys all know.” Yikes. I wish I was kidding, but that is a direct quote.

After hearing of the bribery, I immediately thought of all the hard-working and promising students that did not get the opportunity to attend an elite college like USC because of scandals like these. The quote from Olivia added fuel to the fire, as she clearly had no intention of making use of the quality education she would receive. Instead, she planned on focusing her time on partying, which can be done anywhere! So many students would be beyond grateful for the opportunity to study at a top institution, but never got the chance. Despite my love of “Full House” and Lori Loughlin, I hope that she and the rest of the defendants pay and learn from their actions.
