Easy Ways To Spice Up Your Spring Wardrobe

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Stanford chapter.

Let’s face it.  Those formal dresses hanging in your closet?  Probably still waiting to make an appearance.  Like many other hopeful freshmen girls, I packed far too many “nice” clothes to bring to school.  I figured that I would be the one to break the overwhelming consensus that one must dress down in order to fit in on campus.  After engaging a dialogue that consisted of, “Where are you going?”  “Um..class.” when wearing anything nicer than jeans and a hoodie, I decided to submit to the Stanford uniform: Norts (Nike Shorts, duh), Rainbow flip flops and a Stanford sweatshirt of choice.  Not my finest hour.  Well, here I am to do an overhaul of both your and my closet.   Here’s a list of must-haves for the warm weather:

White Jeans
Imperative for spring and summer, white jeans indicate the change of seasons and offer a fresh departure from the black and blue denim worn practically everyday.  They can be equally dressed up or down depending on the occasion.

Floral Dress
Floral for spring?  Don’t tell Miranda Priestly!  But honestly, it doesn’t get much easier than throwing on a sundress and sandals.  Not to mention boys seem to delight in these feminine frocks.

Denim Cutoffs
These can be equally as comfortable as Norts but 10x as fashionable.  They substitute denim pants in warm weather and coordinate with practically any top.

Oversized Button Down
Something about a crisp button down screams understated elegance.  Equipment has perfected this style, crafting the perfect blend of femininity and masculinity in each silk shirt.

Jack Rogers

There is no mistaking Rainbow flip-flops are here to stay, but variety never hurt anyone.  So, take a break from the Rainbows once and a while and step into these more formal sandals.

Simply adding these pieces into your rotation will instantly amplify your style, and perhaps you’ll notice a few more glances in your direction.
