It’s that time of year again, dumping season. You somehow managed to survive the holidays and the awkward meeting of his friends and family. You think you’re in the clear, right? WRONG. One little phone call changes everything, and for the first time in who knows when (literally, your friends can’t remember the last time you were single) you’re left all alone with no real answers or explanation.
Basically all break ups suck, but it’s usually better to be on the breaking end than the broken end. How did you go from happily in love to future crazy cat lady in .5 seconds? As hard as it may seem, put down the cat toys and get your life back on track because life goes on. The difference between ending a relationship and getting dumped is now you have no closure, no clue what you did wrong. Reality check: if he dumped you, he’s not sitting around watching WE tv crying into a deadly combination of cheap wine and boxed chocolates, he’s living his life and you should be too!
Of course there needs to be a grieving process where you come to grips that everything wasn’t as perfect as you thought and you mourn the loss of the love that never was. After that 30 minutes though, it’s time to get into your hottest outfit and hit the town with your girlfriends. Honey you’re single, you need to be out an mingling!!! Oh you thought he was the one? Well your future husband isn’t going to fall into your lap while you lay in bed crying about your ex, he’s out there waiting for you!! By no means are we saying go steady with the first guy that looks your way, but play the field!! You haven’t been able to do this for months now so go out, flirt, and just do whatever you want! For the first time, in a long time, you don’t have anyone to answer to so have fun!
Just because you’ve been dumped doesn’t make you a loser or in any way not worthy of love, it just means some guy was too blind to see what he had in front of him. This is your time to focus on you and to build stronger relationships with your friends. Enjoy your new found freedom while it lasts, but always keep an open heart because you never know when Mr. Right is right around the corner.
