Halloween is officially over, so that means winter is right around the corner. Like most girlies, I am NOT a fan of the winter. I would much rather be drinking my strawberry refresher on the beach, but instead I’m waking up extra early to scrape ice and snow off my car. No matter whether you like or love winter, this list of 10 essentials will keep you going during these cold, dark times.Â
- A high quality lip balm is my #1 winter essential! I prefer Nivea or Aquaphor.
- Tea is a perfect drink for the winter months! In the morning, I prefer to drink green tea because of its caffeine content and detoxifying qualities! At night, camomile and lavender tea are perfect for relaxing the body and inviting sleep.
- Speaking of sleep, it is so important (especially in the winter) to get good quality sleep. The National Sleep Foundation even recommends an additional 2 hours of sleep per night during the winter time!
- A Long winter coat is a non-negotiable for the winter. When the temperatures drop below freezing and you have to walk 15 minutes to class, that long coat will save your life. Literally. I have a Columbia one, but North Face and Aritzia have some really great ones too.Â
- For the days that aren’t as cold but still a little chilly, a cute puffer can keep you warm and add a lot to your outfit. Puffers are everywhere right now, but Old Navy has had some great deals on them recently.Â
- The only thing about winter that I look forward to is the fact that my wardrobe can consist completely of sweat sets. Sweat sets not only keep you warm, but they keep you comfortable in a way that is still stylish and put together. Sets from White Fox are taking over college campuses right now, but Nike, Lululemon, and Aerie also have great options.Â
- Darker days come with an increase in Seasonal Affective Disorder or “Seasonal Sadness.” One way to combat this is by using a SunLamp, which mimics the sun’s rays. According to the Cleveland Clinic, Sunlamps are proven to positively impact the body’s melatonin and serotonin production.Â
- I don’t know about you guys, but when it gets cold my feet are the first things to suffer. Uggs or any other kind of a warm, fluffy shoe is a MUST for the winter.
- When the air gets dry, so does your skin! Lately, I’ve been using the Clinique Moisture Surge™ 100H Auto-Replenishing Hydrator Moisturizer. This moisturizer has a lightweight feel that is great for all skin types!
- If you don’t have a Comfy, what are you doing? These things are like a massive sweatshirt and blanket combined. Whether I’m doing homework in my room or chilling on the couch watching Hallmark Christmas Movies, you WILL catch me wearing my Comfy.
