Fall’s Five Best Jackets!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Stonehill chapter.

Fall is most definitely in the air and the time has come to put our shoulders into hibernation under some fabulous fall jackets. Instead of taking the cop-out and throwing on your school’s sweatshirt, let’s try and break the stigma of sloppy-dressed college students! From utility to trench, quilted to anorak, there is a jacket out there for every collegiette!

My personal favorite and closet staple is definitely the utility jacket, specifically the field jacket from J.Crew that I have worn religiously for the last year and a half. In my opinion, no matter what you’re wearing, it instantly gives your outfit structure and makes you look far more polished.

The most classic of all of the jacket silhouettes is unsurprisingly, the trench coat. Often referred to something every woman should own in their closets alongside the LBD, a classic trench is a timeless piece you will don well after college ends.

The quilted jacket is definitely an updated classic that can be found in pretty much every collection by every designer, ever-and this is definitely not a bad thing! Variation between designers gives you many options on the quilted look. From Burberry to Target, the options are endless!

After those preppy silhouettes, you might be ready for something with a little more edge, like a leather jacket! These are definitely an investment piece if you are buying the real deal, so be sure to shop and try on carefully before purchase! If you aren’t looking for a huge investment just yet, or don’t wear leather, there are many vegan leather options that happen to be much less expensive and look and feel just as luxurious like this example from Urban Outfitters!

Finally, the anorak is something that will save you during the unexpected fall rain and carry you nicely into the winter storm weather. It is also a great alternative to the sweatshirt, as it is absurdly comfortable, yet still makes a statement because of its big size, and with this particular one from Free People, the print and detailing as well.

There is no need for the post-summer blues when you have options like this! Whichever jacket you choose, they will be sure to keep you stylish and warm in the colder months!
