Christmas music, trivia, the sound of students’ laughter while brave participants attempted to get a sugar cookie from their forehead to their mouths without using their hands in a Minute-to-Win-It challenge…all classic signs that Christmaspalooza was back in full force last Thursday to celebrate the holiday season.
Christmaspalooza, a school-wide celebration that takes place every December at Stonehill College, is one of the Residence Hall Association’s most popular programs, bringing the student body together on a night fully equipped with spreading cheer and giving back. Each year, RHA sponsors five families through the local charity “My Brother’s Keeper”, which supplies the organization with a wish list from each family member, which Stonehill students and faculty can then sign up to provide.
This year, the Stonehill community, even our very own President Father John Denning, pitched in to provide a total of 130 gifts for families in need this Christmas. As if spreading holiday cheer was not enough of an incentive to love Christmaspalooza, amazing prizes, such as an iPad mini and Celtics tickets, were raffled off to raise money for future RHA programs. Cookies were decorated, karaoke was sung, and ultimately, Christmaspalooza achieved its goal of bringing the Stonehill community together in the Christmas spirit and helping to make the holidays a little brighter for families in need.
