If you live in a dorm on campus (or even in your house or apartment off campus), you always want to return to a cozy and welcoming room at the end of a long day. There are a number of ways you can decorate your room to make it the best it can be so that it suits your preferences and makes you feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside.
1. Create a warmly lit atmosphere.
You can do this by getting a lamp with a soft, warm glow and placing it somewhere in the room where it gives off the most light. This will probably be a much more pleasant way to light up your room than with the harsh fluorescent lights in your dorm.
2. Put up pictures.
Nothing says “home” like a bunch of pictures of people, places, and things you love. In my room, I’ve tacked up a bunch of Polaroids of some of my closest friends and I. My roommate also has a lot of pictures of nature scenes and her family members scattered around her wall. Surround yourself with whatever makes you happy!
3. Put up quotes.
I personally love quotes and find them to be very motivating, so if you visit my room you’ll see that I have inspirational quotes and Bible verses literally all over the walls. A number of them are also placed around my desk so that I can read them while I do work and study. Especially since my roommate and I have been experimenting with writing quotes in calligraphy lately, the quotes are more than just words on pieces of paper— they can be artwork, too.
4. Get lots of pillows.
If you want your bed to look inviting and cozy, and you enjoy sleeping surrounded by a mountain of pillows, you can have the best of both worlds by placing a lot of pillows on your bed. You can even color coordinate your pillows with your comforter and bed sheets to get the best look (and maybe it’ll help you rest easy at night, too!)
However, you choose to decorate your room, make sure that it’s something you love and makes you happy!
