In honor or Thanksgiving, here’s a list of six things I’m grateful for this semester. Te list expands past six but these are at the top!
1. My Major/ Career Future
My Journalism major and I butt heads sometimes but I can honestly say I love it overall. I learned so many different skills this year from editing using photoshop, to learning about DSLR cameras, to writing and producing work for WUSB and so on. Needless to say, it has made my head dizzy but my mind more curious. I love learning and then using what I learn in action. It’s a great feeling to know that all I’m learning is going towards what I want to do in the future. 2. My Job/ Internship
Last year I snagged a job somewhere I never knew existed till now, the Small Business Development Center. I’ve been working as an intern for little over a year now and I’m glad I made it from desk intern to social media coordinator. I have the opportunity to take their social media to new heights every day I go in and I work with some pretty great people!
3. My Family
Even though I don’t see them as much as I would like to, especially being only an hour away from home, I’m grateful and love them all the same. I don’t know who I would be or where I would be without my family’s love and strength backing me through the many tests, projects and life’s daily struggles.
4. My Friends
In college, you tend to take on a pack of friends that stay with you throughout your college years or sometimes just for a semester. Luckily I can say a few of my mains that I started out with last year have stuck by my side and they’re a part of my #squadddd! (Fetty Wap pun intended) No, seriously thank you for the air choking laughs, emotional/ no reason cries, and for making school feel less sucky. 5. My Faith & Willpower
I believe in God and even though I’m not super religious, I feel his presence in my life constantly. I’m grateful for my faith because it has given me hope and the strength to push forward in my darkest days. 6. My RA Position and Quad!
I love being an RA and I love the hall and quad I was put into. Granted I’m only a semester in, but I feel so welcomed and loved. I wish I became one sooner. RA’s are practically superheroes! From being on call for at least 12 hours a week, to hosting and promoting programs, to being there for residents that don’t have a clue. Being an RA is much more than just being a “hall monitor, ” it’s about being a leader! #KELLYQUAD
