Fall is Officially Here and You Must Do These 8 Things

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Stony Brook chapter.

Fall is finally here, even though you probably didn’t need to wait for the arrival of Pumpkin Spice Lattes to tell you that. Since fall is so clearly the best season ever (Halloween, flannel, sweaters, need I say more?) make sure you add these activities to your fall bucket list, and if you already have some of these on your list, put a star next to them! 1. Have an outdoor photoshoot with the pretty leaves

This is the perfect way to enjoy a little downtime (and update your Facebook profile picture). All the trees and leaves make for great backgrounds, so you can get really creative with this. Grab your friends and have lots of fun!

2. Go apple or pumpkin picking

Yeah, I guess you can be super boring and just buy a pumpkin or a pack of apples from Trader Joe’s, or you can be not boring and visit a pumpkin field with your friends and family. There are farms and fields in different places on Long Island, so look for one that’s closest to you. 3. Stock up on flannel and grab a cute pair of boots

Flannel and boots are a match made in heaven — seriously. Combine flannel and a pair of boots with leggings for an effortlessly cute and cozy outfit for class. Plus, flannel comes in so many different cute colors, so you probably won’t be able to buy just one top anyway.

4. Look for tasty pie recipes on Pinterest

Pinterest has literally everything so there’s no excuse to not do this one! Your mouth will water from just looking at the desserts made from all the best autumn flavors: caramel; pumpkin; apple; cinnamon. If you aren’t a pie person, look for other fall-inspired dessert recipes.

5. Start working on your Halloween horror movie watchlist

Is there a classic you just never got around to watching? Do you want to venture out of your comfort zone and possibly pee yourself? This is a great way to use Netflix for something other than “Gossip Girl” and “Grey’s Anatomy.” Plus, it’s a fun way to enjoy Halloween if you don’t feel like going out. I highly recommend watching  “The Taking of Deborah Logan.”6. Buy fall lipstick shades.

Vampy purple lip = YAS! There are so many fab fall shades out in stores that I’m literally tearing up just thinking about them! Go for a cranberry shade, or spice it up with a terra-cotta color. 7. Try at least one PSL-flavored item

I know, I know, some people may be totally over all the PSL hype (but how can you be when there’s now PSL-flavored yogurt????) but if you have still never tried anything pumpkin spice flavored, there’s no time like the present!

8. Study hard!

The coming of fall also signals the coming of our first set of exams! If you haven’t already taken your first exam for a college class, chances are you probably have at least three of them coming up in the same week! Don’t let procrastination get the best of you — study hard so you can enjoy the fall weather even harder!
