It’s widely believed that these days, there’s an app for anything and everything – and we agree! We conducted some research, and found 5 apps that are guaranteed to make your life at university a lot easier – you can thank us later!

 

1.       Notability

Ever forgotten a really useful example or anecdote used by a lecturer? With this app, you’ll never worry about that again. Notability allows you to download relevant PowerPoint presentations or other files, and customise them. You’ll be able to hand-draw diagrams, take pictures and insert them into your slides, and record your lecture then play it back, watching your notes unfold in real-time. Highly recommended for iPad users.

            

 

    2.       Tiny Scanner

With this app, you’ll be able to take any paper notes and turn them into a black-and-white PDF file on your device – simply by taking a photo of them. Extremely useful for borrowing friends’ notes to print out later at home.

3.       Google Drive & Google Docs

Okay, we realise that these are two separate apps, but they complement each other so well that we thought it best to put them together. Google Drive makes it easy to upload your files from your computer, then access them anywhere, anytime from almost any device. Then, use Google Docs to share documents with your friends and even edit them together. Perfect for group projects.

 

4.  Trello

Here’s one for all you listomanaics! Trello allows users to separate their lists into boards, making life a lot more organised. Create due-dates for list points and colour code them, too! Great for helping you to remember important meetings and assignments!

 

5.    StrathUni

The dedicated Strathclyde University app has a searchable campus map – incredibly useful for freshers who don’t want to get lost during their first few weeks (although, let’s face it, we’re all pretty lost during the first few weeks of uni!) Also has regularly updated news and events sections so you’ll always know what’s happening on campus.
