It’s that time of the year again – awards season is here! For many of us, it’s not about the movies or TV shows. No, it’s really about the fashion! In honour of Sunday’s Golden Globes, here are some of the best and worst red carpet looks.
Best: Emma Stone
Who needs a dress? Emma Stone certainly doesn’t! Instead, she showed up in a bedazzled Lanvin bodysuit, and landed a spot on the best dressed list. We hope to see more stars mixing it up like Emma this season!
Worst: Lana Del Rey
This look might have been stylish in 2005, but today it just looks like a mess. Perhaps she was looking to channel her inner mermaid in this vintage Travilla gown, but the shiny turquoise fabric just gives me flashbacks to my big sister’s junior prom dress.
Best: Lena Dunham
Lena Dunham has had some interesting red carpet moments in the past (check out the 2014 Emmys for reference), but she finally came out with a winner on Sunday! Wearing a playful red number by pal Zac Posen, Lena gets extra points for looking like she was having the time of her life!
Worst: Kate Mara
This Miu Miu dress was just too busy. From the v-neck, to the belt, to the ruffles, it looked like Kate just couldn’t decide on a style, so she chose all three! Remember, less is more!
Best: Julianne Moore
Metallics were everywhere on the carpet, from Dakota Johnson to Reese Witherspoon. But the best of all was definitely Julianne Moore! The best part of this Givenchy Couture gown? The feathers, of course!
Worst: Tina Fey
She might have killed at as the host, but she totally flopped on the red carpet. Though Tina’s knocked it out of the park before, this Antonio Berardi dress was not flattering on her (but to be fair, it doesn’t look like it would be on anyone).Â
Best: Quvenzhané Wallis
Girl is only 11 years old and is wearing custom Armani. Oh, and she looks downright adorable while doing it.
Worst: Keira Knightley
Usually, I’m a sucker for anything Chanel. However, Keira Knightley’s Globes gown fell flat. More grandmother chic than haute couture, this was a style risk that didn’t pay off.
Best: Lorde
Also joining Emma Stone at the pants party was Lorde. Proving she’s the coolest girl in the world, she showed up in a midriff-bearing pantsuit by Narcisco Rodriguez, and traded her signature big curls for a sleek ponytail. Talk about effortless chic.
Worst: Kerry Washington
We know Kerry’s Scandal character Olivia Pope has some of the best style on television. Unfortunately, that didn’t translate into real life on Sunday! If her Mary Karantzou dress had been just a little longer, it might have avoided its fate on the worst dressed list, but instead the ankle-length skirt looked much too awkward for the red carpet.
