LGBTQ Nightlife Events, an organization that has been running monthly queer events at local clubs in the city of Boston for the past few years, has decided to lease a permanent location of their very own. Dani’s Queer Bar will cater to queer women and non-binary people, but will be aimed at providing a safe space for all sapphic, non-binary, trans and other LGBTQ+ people to gather as a community.
Recent conversations about Boston’s low quality nightlife scene have been spreading across local news for the past few months, but little attention has been paid to the city’s severe lack of LGBTQ+ bars and spaces. It has been nearly two decades since the city of Boston has had an operational bar dedicated to lesbians and queer women. After the closing of Boston’s only two lesbian bars, Vicki’s and Cavana’s, little advancement has been made in the addition of new LGBTQ+ bars and nightlife, until now.
Dani’s Queer Bar is set to open in Back Bay at the location formerly occupied by Pour House. Upon its opening Dani’s will become the nation’s 28th operational lesbian bar. LGBTQ Nightlife Events coordinators have been planning and fundraising in anticipation for the bar’s grand debut since last year, achieving in raising over $5,000 through GoFundMe and donations from their monthly events. Although no opening date has been confirmed as of yet, some sources say it could be as soon as next month.
