While I know that it is hard to look past THE one and only Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte, there is a whole world of seasonal food options out there just waiting to be consumed. During the first few weeks of the semester, I have found myself as a connoisseur of autumn-related foods, sampling everything from cupcakes to soup. So skip the dining hall for a change, and try something new. Here are my top three seasonal snacks outside of campus:
1. The September Salad @ Sweetgreen (659 Boylston St.)
If you feel like making a great decision, eat this salad! According to Sweetgreen’s website, the September Salad consists of, “organic arugula & shredded kale, with local watermelon, heirloom tomatoes, cucumbers, organic mint, local feta, spicy sunflower seeds, and champagne vinaigrette.” The September Salad is not only incredibly tasty, but it is also very pretty to look at. The key components of this salad are the local feta and watermelon, which blend together beautifully with each refreshing bite. The September salad leaves you full and energized. It is the perfect meal if you need a break from overly processed cafeteria food. Hurry up and try it before October creeps in!

2. Whole Food’s Sweet Potato, Apple and Shallot soup (181 Cambridge St.)
This soup IS fall in a bowl (or mug!). Purred apple is the standout flavor, while caramelized onions and spices such as cinnamon and cloves add depth to the soup. You can purchase 24 fl oz of Sweet Potato, Apple and Shallot soup for only $6.99, which is a great deal, since one container lasted me seven very yummy bowls. If you are looking to warm up on a chilly fall day or save some of your meal plan cash, I highly recommend trying this soup.

3. Local Produce from the Copley Square Farmer’s Market (Copley Square, Boylston St.)
The Copley Square Farmer’s Market, held on Tuesdays and Fridays from 11 AM to 6 PM, is chock full of wonderfully healthy snack options. The market is loaded with such gems as two for $9 raspberries (try the golden ones if you’re feeling adventurous), homemade mini apple cider donuts, and huge Honeycrisp apples. Check it out, so you can grocery shop while supporting Massachusetts farms.
