You’re only supposed to take two gummy vitamins a day, but we all know there have been times where you want to sneak a few more because they are just so delicious. However, studies have shown that excessively eating gummy vitamins is actually a risk to your health!
If you eat more than two or if you eat them as a snack, you are truly at risk. According to Dr. Ken Speath, Director of Occupational and Environmental Medicine at the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System, eating too many can cause permanent health damage.
If you eat excessive amounts, death also becomes a risk. This is nothing to joke about. The highest risk comes from the ‘fat-soluble’ vitamins, like vitamin A, D, E, etc. Speath stated in an interview, “The body is not able to clear excessive amounts of this type quickly, and the subsequent build up of high levels can inflict an array of injury to various organ systems including the brain.”
Many multivitamins also contain iron and zinc, both of which become problematic when consumed in a larger amount than necessary. As a result of consuming the entire bottle, your body could reach toxic levels.
In short, stop eating more than the recommended dosage of your vitamin gummies! It is not healthy!
