Trigger Warning : This movie is a psychological thriller, including topics like drug abuse, depression, suicide, and other psychological disorders.

“Smile” is considered to be a psychological thriller. It is based off of a short story called “Laura Doesn’t Sleep”.

First off, the advertising for this movie was really creative. For this specific movie, they had the cast go around in public wearing bright yellow shirts that said “Smile” on it. They have been seen in random places in public, such as football games standing in the crowd and even in the background of the news.

In terms of the movie itself, the story focuses on Dr. Rose Cotter. After seeing a traumatic experience, she starts to experience strange delusions. No one can explain it, not even her. She slowly loses her mind, day by day. To figure out what is going on, she must dig deep into her past to help save her life.

Beyond the plot, we NEED to talk about the actual experience of the movie, which was absolutely crazy. We decided to see the movie late at night around 10:30 to add to the thrill of the experience. It has been a long time since I have seen a movie that actually made me jump and scream.

The jumpscares were out of this world, sneaking up on you when least expected. In addition, the movie had amazing cinematography, and the scenes were shot in such a realistic way, making you feel like you were actually in the movie, so even the expected jumpscares got you good.

The movie kept us on the edge of our seats, not only due to the scary jumpscares, but because of the plot and storyline itself. The movie creates anticipation and anxiety with so many twists and turns.

After the movie, we was scared to make eye contact with people, trusting no one. Sleeping in a dark dorm was scary, and we were up almost all night because of how much the movie stuck with us.

Overall, as horror movie lovers, we strongly recommend this movie. The concept of the movie is truly unique and it’s a great scare. We would give it a solid 10/10 rating. However, if you go see this movie keep in mind you will be thinking about it for the next month.
