#1 – Spring Bags: The bag, purse or clutch epically defines your fashionable outfit. Without the right bag, your entire ensemble may be doomed. This spring, it is crucial to think light, bright and cheerful when purchasing the perfect bag. I have seen many designers utilizing color blocking and bold colors on their spring palate.

Classy & Elegant

JCrew

This beautiful bag of class and elegance is perfect for every day in the city. In addition to being effortlessly fashionable and sharp, this bag is neutral and spacious. The designer incorporated linen-pink leather with black, creating a gorgeous “blossom black” combination. A purse like this one would look beautiful paired with black patent leather pumps, dark washed skinny jeans, a light pink cardigan and black scarf draped over the shoulders.

Trendy & City Chic

Jerome Dreyfuss

This edgy purse is also another great option to use for an every-day bag. The emerald is such a unique choice – totally bright for spring, and the entire exterior design/shape of the purse screams tastefully trendy.

Hot Tamale – the Statement Bag

Kate Spade

Kate Spade’s purse version of the beloved little red dress is absolutely exquisite – and breathtaking. The black bow with the gold and black wrapped shoulder strap dress up this purse. It is perfect for a warm spring day, paired with tight black capris or black skirt, flat black sandals and a white sleeveless button down.

Prada’s cute little number is also an eye-catcher spotted confidently strutting down the runway. Poppy red really stands out against the white – such a perfect color combination for a spring purse. It is elegant yet daring paired with ravenous red lipstick and sexy high heels.

Pretty in Pink

Marc Jacobs

Light pink leather is a popular trend this spring. It is simply fresh, sweet and neutral. The gold chain and clasp totally compliments the pink; the contrast popping out and making this little number striking. The size of this purse is also absolutely ideal for a night out when only needing the girly essentials – lipstick, a tiny mirror, cell phone and pack of gum.

Vibrant Color Blocking: The beloved color blocking fashion trend is still in this season. Each one of these purses will completely spice up your outfit.  In this case, the bag is the centerpiece of the ensemble – the purse is picked first, then the outfit and accessories to follow. Although color blocking is a fun change in your regular outfits, these color blocking purses can only be worn with specific outfits that have the same color shades in them. This purse will not be your daily spring bag, but it will be your best friend on that special occasion you want to break out your fun, vibrant outfit when the weather is perfect.

See Through: Whether it’s Stella McCartney’s clear clutch or Shourouk’s see through beaded purse, elite fashion designers sure know how to bring something chic and different to style, totally revolutionizing the bag world. This season, sporting a see through bag with your outfit is the new popular trend.

#2 – Shoes

Pointed Stiletto Pumps: One of my absolute favorite shoe choices, pumps will forever be timeless – and a must-have staple in every Fashionista’s closet. Extremely versatile, they can be worn casually with skinny jeans and a leather jacket, or they can easily dress up a pretty cotton sundress and jean jacket. Black is definitely a staple color to have readily available for all seasons. White or nude pumps are perfect for the springtime into the summer, and can be paired with any color top, dress or skinny jeans. Unique colored pumps are also a lot of fun – and you have an excuse to base your outfit around buying new shoes.

White-Out: The whiteout trend is innocently stylish this season – especially in shoes. These strappy sandals are effortlessly sexy, especially modeled with glimmering tanned legs. These shoes would look absolutely perfect paired with a tight white cotton dress and light denim jacket.

Some Bling Action: Miu Miu’s flat glittery sandals can dress up a pair of casual white skinny jeans and top or a skirt and bright colored cardigan. They are comfortable for walking around on date night, and the sandal shape compliments your feet. Add some elegant bling to your spring ensembles.

#3 – And Such

Hugo Boss Orange Shades: Whether it’s with or without the lenses, Hugo Boss’s shades are a staple for warm weather. Completed with the lenses, these shades the ideal pair of sunglasses to battle the sun with – dark, mysterious and sexy. The frames incorporate fun color and uniqueness to each pair of sunglasses. If you want to go for a pair without the lenses (strictly frames) the glasses make a sophisticated fashion statement of unconditional trendiness.

Wraps & Scarves: The most interesting fashion statement I spotted for spring 2013 would definitely be the wraps and scarves. The purity of the first scarf’s white color complimented with bold golden accents is gorgeous – appearing to wrap around the model’s body. These scarves embody a beautiful and ornate fashion look. They are fun and light to throw on over a tank top or leather jacket.

So get ready to think spring bags, shoes and such! Gorgeous weather is just around the corner, and now is the time to plan for it.

My name is Alexa Mellardo and I am currently a sophomore and Broadcast Journalism major at Suffolk University, located in the heart of one of the most charming cities in the world: Boston. A passionate journalist, I am fortunate to be doing what I love to do….writing! When I’m not composing articles for two awesome online publications (hercampus.com and also collegefashionista.com) and attending classes, I intern at a trendy magazine in the city. In between, I love to shop and spend time with my friends and my boyfriend. I have two addictions: shopping and cupcakes. In light of that, what better place to be than just blocks away from Newbury Street, Charles Street and Quincy Market? My quaint, vintage brownstone apartment in Beacon Hill is where my two best friends and I keep it strictly classy and fashionable. We turned our apartment into a comfy fashionable haven, and we enjoy relaxing and entertaining our friends. Living in such an awesome city provides a wealth of opportunity, fun, and culture to embrace. My dream is to one day be a respected, well-known broadcast journalist.
