Warning: Contains Mouthwatering Scoop

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Suffolk chapter.

For many foodies, it is an extremely difficult task to navigate our way around Trader Joe’s without giving in.  By saying, “giving in,” I mean piling our shopping carts tall and proud with absolutely everything in the store.  From Trader Joes’ refreshing Honey Crisp Apple Cider to its divine Toasted Coconut Pancake Mix, this beloved grocery store has many scrumptious options to offer its customers.  It seems as though we are irrevocably hooked on Joe’s…and just cannot get enough!

Here’s a guide to one of the most amazing grocery stores in the entire world (we love you!):

* October Calls for Pumpkin

For your seasonal cravings, Trader Joe’s seriously offers everything pumpkin – including savory Pumpkin Joe-Joe’s (pumpkin sandwich cookies filled with lavish pumpkin cream), sinfully delicious Pumpkin Rolls with Pumpkin Pie Spice Icing (try saying that two times fast), Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins and so much more.  Your fav store has you deliciously covered to savor this incredible time of year with every bite.  And just in case you want a full list of scrumptious pumpkin delights offered this time of year, the October issue of Trader Joe’s Fearless Flyer covers the entire scoop.  Warning: prepare your mouth to water in ecstatic excitement from page 1 (Pumpkin Spice Coffee), all the way through page 25 (Pecan Pumpkin Instant Oatmeal).

* The Most Important Time of Each Day: Snack Time

Trader Joe’s has the best of the best selection in snacks, to honor the most critical (and delightful) time of day!  Their Fig & Olive Crisps are heavenly, combining two complementary flavors into one bite.  The fascinating contrast of the fruity fig with savory olive creates an enticing duo, satisfying all midday cravings.  These crisps are available in a 5.3-ounce box, priced at $3.99 per box.

Seasoned Kale Chips are truly sensational…and healthy!  Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, no-cholesterol and insanely delicious all in one, this snack is a must-try.  The 2-ounce pouch is $3.99.

* Lunch & Dinner

Trader Joe’s Quinoa Cowboy Veggie Burgers highlight a blend of black beans, multi-hued quinoa, red peppers, roasted corn and seasonings.  These tasty burgers are great on top of a mixed green salad, or on a pretzel bun with your favorite toppings.  The Quinoa Cowboy Veggie burgers can be purchased in a 12-ounce package, which includes four burgers ($3.69).

Satisfy your Italian cuisine cravings with Trader Joes’ Girasoli Ricotta & Lemon Zest pasta, which is prepared with Sicilian lemons.  This radiant, enticing filled-pasta is a refreshing option for dinner, recommended to pair with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and freshly chopped basil.  The 8.8-ounce package is priced at $2.99.

* For Those Naughty Cravings

Please your sweet desires with the Speculoos Cookie Butter Ice Cream.  Trader Joe’s even recommends getting creative: make your own “Speculoos Pie.”  Soften your quart of Cookie Butter Ice Cream for 20 minutes in the refrigerator, and then spoon however much ice cream desired into chocolate cookie crust or a graham cracker. Need I say more?!

I am not embarrassed to say that I have enjoyed each and every item above…many times.  They are meant to be on your shopping list.

My name is Alexa Mellardo and I am currently a sophomore and Broadcast Journalism major at Suffolk University, located in the heart of one of the most charming cities in the world: Boston. A passionate journalist, I am fortunate to be doing what I love to do….writing! When I’m not composing articles for two awesome online publications (hercampus.com and also collegefashionista.com) and attending classes, I intern at a trendy magazine in the city. In between, I love to shop and spend time with my friends and my boyfriend. I have two addictions: shopping and cupcakes. In light of that, what better place to be than just blocks away from Newbury Street, Charles Street and Quincy Market? My quaint, vintage brownstone apartment in Beacon Hill is where my two best friends and I keep it strictly classy and fashionable. We turned our apartment into a comfy fashionable haven, and we enjoy relaxing and entertaining our friends. Living in such an awesome city provides a wealth of opportunity, fun, and culture to embrace. My dream is to one day be a respected, well-known broadcast journalist.
Mackenzie's the name, Campus Correspondant for Suffolk is my game.
