Music is powerful. My favorite songs are my heartbeat. One of the only things better than listening to one of your favorite songs is listening to your favorite songs remixed and sung by a number of your favorite artists live in-studio. That’s why I love listening to the Live Lounge Covers produced by British radio station BBC Radio 1. In the Live Lounge, popular artists from a variety of genres cover generally recent, well-known songs.
- The 1975 – What Makes You Beautiful (One Direction Cover)
-
I’m not even exaggerating, I listened to this daily for at least a solid 8 months. It’s pure gold and my personal favorite Live Lounge cover of all time.Â
- Harry Styles – The Chain (Fleetwood Mac Cover)
-
Harry + Fleetwood Mac (aka Stevie Nicks) is the definition of a dynamic duo. They idolize each other and I idolize this cover.
- 5 Seconds of Summer – I Miss You (Blink-182 Cover)
-
5SOS is basically the Blink-182 of our generation. Ok, maybe that’s a stretch… I don’t really know. But either way, they definitely hit the mark on this cover! Let’s also discuss how young they look. Wow.
- Zara Larsson – Love Lies (Khalid and Normani Cover)
-
Zara Larsson is so underrated. She has so many hits but the average person probably can’t name any off the top of their head. This cover of Khalid and Normani’s “Love Lies” flawlessly showcases her vocal talent.
- Panic! At The Disco – IDGAF (Dua Lipa Cover)
-
Apparently Brendon Urie “DGAF” with this cover and tbh, he doesn’t need to because his voice is out of this world.
- Taylor Swift – Can’t Stop Loving You (Phil Collins Cover)
-
This is the most relaxing and peaceful song I have ever heard in my life. Queen Taylor, we stan.
- Miley Cyrus and Mark Ronson – No Tears Left To Cry (Ariana Grande Cover)
-
The original version of this song is a bop and a half. Then Miley Cyrus covers it with her timeless vocals along with the help of the legendary producer Mark Ronson and they take it to a whole ‘nother level.Â
- Jonas Brothers – Someone You Loved (Lewis Capaldi Cover)
-
I admittedly wasn’t a fan of this song until the Jonas Brothers covered it. Somehow their vocals can be adapted to fit any song – they’re just that good. Fun fact: Lewis Capaldi, the original performer of this song, covered the Jonas Brother’s Sucker on the Elvis Duran morning show, which inspired them to return the favor by covering Lewis’ song.
You can experience all of the Live Lounge performances here. Enjoy!
