This semester’s pledge class of Susquehanna’s chapter of Alpha Phi Omega is planning to kick off their class service project this Wednesday, November 8th, in Lower Deg. The Alpha Iota pledge class is a small, but mighty collection of 10 girls ranging from their sophomore to senior years. Because of their strong female presence, the group has chosen Transitions of PA to be the benefiting philanthropy for their service project. According to pledge class president, Melissa Ballow, Transitions is “a tri-county non-profit dedicated to educating and preventing domestic abuse, as well as sheltering victims of domestic abuse.”
Starting November 8th, the group will be selling Thanksgiving themed candygrams for $1 each in Lower Deg Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays from 11AM-3:00PM and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00AM-2:30PM. The personalized thank yous will be delivered to students and staff with a sweet treat before the start of Thanksgiving break on the 21st. Their campaign will also feature more information on what Transitions of PA is and how it serves to help women and families in Snyder, Union, and Northumberland counties.
This is only the beginning of the pledge class’ efforts to raise money for Transitions. They plan to work on additional projects after the return from Thanksgiving break, but for now, they’re looking for support from the Riverhawk community! Be sure to stop by their table in Lower Deg over the next two weeks and send a thank you to all your friends on campus and benefit an incredible cause!
