As a college student who is super involved on campus, I never have much time to really embrace self-care. I spend more time running around campus than in my own room. When it comes to facial care, I rarely even used any cleansers for my face. It seemed a little time-consuming at times when I am in the rush. Additionally, with COVID, we have spent so much time wearing masks that no one really knows what my face looks like. When I thought about skincare, I think about the lengthy process that people go through, so I have been usually deterred from trying. But recently, I began to change my mind.
Her Campus Susqu had the opportunity to test out Sweet Chef’s new Carrot Ginger Skin Care Line. But first, if you have never heard about Sweet Chef, it is created by the team behind the Glow Recipe. Sweet Chef is a vegan and Leaping Bunny-certified cruelty-free skincare line, and it is made with vitamins and veggies. Their inspiration comes from all things natural, healthy, and fresh-pressed.
I really enjoyed the experience with their new skincare line. It is really straightforward to use, taking not much of your time. The products from the skincare line include the Carrot Ginger and Salicylic Acid Pore Cleanser and the Carrot Ginger Blemish Rescue Patches.
The first product I tried was the Carrot Ginger and Salicylic Acid Pore Cleanser, which is made with ginger, carrot, and salicylic acid. It is a foaming cleanser that is easy to use. All you need is 1-2 pumps on your palm and to massage it on your skin for one full minute. It did not take much time out of my day, and the foam was gentle on the face. I tend to have oily skin sometimes, and the results of using this pore cleanser were nice. My face felt a lot cleaner, and I did not feel that tightness that comes from the skin being dry.
With the Carrot Ginger Blemish Rescue Patches, these are hydrocolloid patches that come in three different sizes: large, medium, small, and extra-small. With the exception of the medium-sized patch, all the patches were clear, making it not completely visible to the eye. However, the medium-sized patch is super cute with a little carrot and heart pattern on the patches. They use salicylic acid, carrot, and ginger to minimize breakouts and brighten dark spots. It was actually the first time I tried on any patches. I had a breakout on my face one day, and I was a little nervous to try it. I had it on for a few hours, and I was surprised by the outcome. I didn’t catch much on the patch, but as soon as I took it off, there were some fluids gushing out. I would have to say that you need to follow instructions. The first time I used it, I took it off before the minimum six-hour period was up, and it also lead to bleeding. The second time I used the patches, I added an extra two hours because I was worried about the bleeding. I was pleasantly surprised by the outcome. If you look close enough, you can still see where I was breaking out on my face. However, it is not as visible as it was before. Also, the swelling went down. It does feel a little sticky afterward, so that is something I noticed, but that also shows how well it sticks. Actually, I took a shower with it on accidentally, and it never fell off despite my fears of it happening.
Overall, I was so happy Her Campus Susqu was given this opportunity with Sweet Chef. I love how much care Sweet Chef puts into their products to ensure that it is healthy for the skin. I already love how it is cruelty-free, but the use of veggies was surprisingly great!
