Photo Editing Apps to Up Your Instagram Game

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Susqu chapter.

Who doesn’t want to have an amazing feed on Instagram? Fact is: we all do. Here are some of my favorite apps to use when editing my pictures for the ‘gram:

1. VSCO

This is my all-time favorite photo editing app. I love going on Pinterest to find “recipes” and testing them out. There are so many different, natural filters to use and tools that are easy to use.

2. Lightroom Mobile

Adobe Lightroom has a free app anyone can use to edit photos. Lightroom Presets, which are basically photo filters you can apply to your photos with specific settings, are all the rage right now. You can edit without buying presets – they can be pricey – but if you’re truly dedicated to the aesthetic, buying presets are the way to go. Aspyn Ovard and Alexa Jean have some of the most popular presets, but there are many other options, and you can generally find them for the cheapest price on Etsy.

3. Canva

Make your own graphics with this app! They look professionally done and it couldn’t be any easier. You can design posts and stories for specific social media platforms, or even flyers, cover photos, or posters. Honestly, this app is a must-have!

4. Bazaart

Making collages is super easy with this app. If you’re in a sorority, you may know that many chapters make collages for their Instagram stories. This app is perfect for that. You could even use this app if you wanted to change the background of one of your photos or create a new lock screen for your phone!

5. Airbrush

I really like the filters on this app. In particular, I’m a big fan of the “mint” filter. There are also options to retouch photos which can come in handy.

6. Preview

This app allows you to connect your Instagram account and upload new photos within the app, so you can see how it will look on your feed ahead of time. No more hassle of having to upload a new post to Instagram and delete if it doesn’t look good along with your other photos! They also have some nice filters, A3 being my favorite.

Enjoy!
