Romans is a book written by the Apostle Paul in the New Testament. Paul wrote this book to explain his faith and proclaim the truth of the Gospel to the Roman believers. Paul wanted the people living in Rome to have a better understanding of who Christ is, and recognize God’s amazing gift of salvation. Romans 8 thoroughly explains the significance that Christ’s death has on those who believe in him.
Before diving into the message of Romans 8, it is important to understand why it is vital that we have a Savior in the first place. Contrary to what people may think, no one is perfect. We are all sinful people with a sinful nature. Fortunately, we have a Savior who destroys this problem of sin. God sent his son as the perfect sacrifice so that those who believe in him could have eternal life. Because of his death on the cross, we have been covered by the blood of Jesus, appearing perfect in his image.
After having a better understanding of why Jesus is our Savior, it will be easier to grasp what Paul explains in Romans 8.  Paul expresses how God’s sacrifice of his son Jesus has set us free from the bondage of sin and death. Those who accept this and believe they have the Spirit of God living in them are no longer living according to their flesh. If we live by the Spirit, we will experience peace, hope, and life. Submitting to the Spirit pleases God and keeps our desires focused on what the Lord desires. Because of this spiritual awakening, we are adopted into Christ’s family once and for all.
Paul also gives hope to God’s people! All the suffering we face on earth because of our commitment to Christ will be worth the glory of eternity.  We can wait eagerly to be with Christ forever. When we feel weak during our time on Earth, we can be strengthened by the Spirit. God has a purpose for each of our lives. God is for us, providing us with all we need to do the work he has given us to do. He will love and protect us no matter the hardship or persecutions we may face. Give your life to him so his Spirit can work through you. God is with us and loves us unconditionally. I pray that you receive this invitation to be saved by God!
