You can find him center court or scoping out the Sahara Desert. He’s Campus Cutie Josh Solely!Â
Major: International Relations with a Focus on International Security and Diplomacy in the Middle East and Northern Africa
Year: 2015
Current mood: Amped! I just rewatched all of the Bourne series.
Goals post ‘Cuse:Â I want to run my bar to be the most successful in my state, run a real estate firm, and work with my friends at some capacity.
Favorite song: “Jack and Dianne” by John Mellencamp. It’s the only song I can play on the guitar. I’m teaching myself right now.
Guilty pleasure: Frozen yogurt.
Hidden Talent: My talent is so hidden that I don’t even know about it.
Favorite Thing About Syracuse: Basketball season. That and the spicy tomato oil Pastabilities sauce.
Where can people spot you around Syracuse: I like wine tasting, so my friends and I visited a couple vineyards around here. 6% of wines in the country are from Upstate New York. Or center court Flanagan. Only center court.
Something you’re probably too old to do but you do it anyways: Star Wars.
Favorite Thing to Do Back Home: I like to go sailing. I like to go around Casco Bay in Maine. It’s fun to go around on the water with a friend and relax.
What soothes your soul? My cat.
Hobby: Woodworking. After high school, I bought an appartment and reconstructed it. I like renovating and learned maintenance before moving to brokerage at my firm.Â
Where do you see yourself in 25 years? Living in a house in Maine with a view of the waves crashing against the rocks, in my rocking chair doing a crossword with nothing but the open ocean. Maybe a wife in the area, my cat and a dog. Â
Role Model: My Grandfather. He’s got such a crazy life between the Korean War and raising four kids. Today he collects paintings and art. He’s gone through every obstacle possible to be where he is. From raising four boys to being a successful investor.Â
Celebrity crush: Â I LOVE KATE UPTON.
Favorite Place: Tangier, Morocco, and Laguna Beach, LA. My taxi driver found this place called Secluded Beach in Tangier, Morocco. It was deserted after a war. No one was there, no one knew about it. There was just this adorable black dog, so my friends and I took over and just hung out with it. We took an eight hour bus ride to get into the desert then rode camels the rest of the way.
If you could hike a mountain with any person in history or time, who would it be? Teddy Roosevelt, and I want him to point out every kind of tree and plant that we walk by.
Philosophy to Live by: Work hard, play hard.
What are you most looking forward to this semester? Graduating!Â
