It’s that time of the year again…RELAY FOR LIFE! Relay for Life is the largest student-led event on the UT campus and is the signature fundraising event for the American Cancer Society. And let me tell you, this is one of the most fun nights you will have at UT. If you’ve never been to Relay for Life, or you only got to stay for a short period of time, here is why you NEED to spend your entire day and night at the track on Saturday, April 18th!
1. Help surpass the goal of raising $92,000 for the American Cancer Society.
One person can’t raise $92,000, so UT needs your help to achieve this goal.
2. Join in the celebration of cancer survivors.
Relay for Life isn’t all about raising money and awareness, but it is also about celebrating people who were lucky enough to survive their battle with cancer.
3. There will be a must see drag show.
If you were at Relay for Life last year than you definitely remember the drag show at night. Guys that you normally see walking around campus were strutting their stuff across the stage in mini skirts, high heels, pink, and cheetah print. There will be a special host for this year’s show, so you can’t afford to miss it!
4. FREE RedBull!
You will have no excuse to leave early and go to bed because there will be free RedBull to help keep your eyes open and your energy high.
5. Show off your athletic side
If you want to show your classmates how you are the fastest runner in the world, there’s going to be a relay baton race. Note: I will not be winning this competition.
6. Pulling an all nighter has never been this fun.
Staying up all night is a lot more fun than you would think. You’ll have all day Sunday to sleep.
7. The DJ was on America’s Got Talent.
Okay seriously, how cool is that?
8. You can go “around the world” with just one lap around the track.
The theme this year is “around the world.” Visit your favorite country’s table to see what kind of goodies they have.
9. Your legs will be on point the next day.
Since you will be walking laps on laps on laps for the entire day, you will get a killer workout.
10. So. Many. Activities.
But really, there will be different events going on for the entire day. You won’t ever be bored because the frozen t-shirt contest, tug of war, or karaoke will be calling your name.
11. Did I mention you would be outside?
The Florida sunshine will allow us to hold the entire event outside. Don’t worry about missing a great beach day because you will get just as good of a tan on the track.
All jokes aside, Relay for Life will be an event you seriously cannot miss. Be sure to lookout for the Her Campus Bahamian themed table. It’s never too late to make a difference!
