6 Emotions Experienced at the End of the School Year

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tampa chapter.
As this semester comes to an end, studying for finals and packing up a year full of memories can be a lot for a young adult to handle. While we are all looking forward to the summer and spending time with family and friends, tanning poolside, and not doing homework for three months, we will all miss the traits that make Tampa a unique place to live and learn.  Here is a list of emotions and feelings you may experience during the last week of school and how to handle them.

1. Stress/Anxiety
In one week you have to study and take your finals, pack up your dorm room, and say goodbye to your friends.  That is a lot of change in just seven days for one person.  It may seem like a lot to complete in a short amount of time, but believe me, you can do it!

2. Laziness
By the time exam week has arrived, many of us have lost motivation to study for the tests or complete the projects that are due.  While you just want to give up and crawl back into bed, remember, you do not have to do homework for three months after this week! Finish strong and treat yourself after your final exam.

3. Excitement
Many students are happy  when the semester is over because they can finally go back home and see their pets, be with their family, and sleep and eat all day!  Some people have exciting travel plans or jobs planned out for the summer.

4. Unhappiness
While some students are excited to leave campus and go back home, others are not as eager for the school year to end, especially graduating seniors.  Once commencement is over, it is time for the real world. EW!

5. Relief
Some students are so thankful once they have taken their last exam and returned their textbooks to the bookstore.  It is an accomplishment to have another semester finished and be done with some difficult and challenging classes.

6. Tired
Many students will pull all-nighters during exam week in order to study for that important Organic Chemistry test or finish that fifteen page paper for World History class. While it is vital to do your best on your finals, you also need sleep or you can get sick, dizzy, and fatigued.  Take naps periodically if you need to, but keep the good work going because you can sleep on the plane ride back home!
