As a vegan of six years, I’ve definitely heard all the commentary surrounding the topic. Sometimes it’s good, and other times it isn’t so pleasant. Regardless of your feelings towards veganism or plant-based diets, the restaurants listed will not disappoint!
Okay, out of any vegan restaurant in Tampa, Ground Foods is by far my favorite. I find myself craving it all the time and have yet to get tired of it. Whether I’m in the mood for pizza, pasta, salad, or bruschetta, Ground Foods has it all. My favorites are the salsiccia pizza, penne vodka, and caesar salad. The restaurant itself is clean and simple. You order at the counter, and then your food comes out almost immediately, which makes the experience even better, in my opinion. So, If you are vegan or want to enjoy a non-dairy stomach-pain-free meal, this is the place for you!
I’ve only been to 3 Dot Dash twice so far, but it’s quickly rising to the top of my list. This is a comfort food vegan kitchen located in Jug and Bottle in Seminole Heights. My favorites are the mac and cheese and V.L.T, a vegan B.L.T on rye bread. It sounds simple, but the flavors are to die for. They also have other intriguing menu items, including chicken sandwiches breaded in Fuego Takis and mac and cheese burgers.
This one might seem like a given, but Fresh Kitchen is one of my go-to’s. It’s efficient, relatively healthy, and not too expensive. My favorite is a bowl with kale slaw, cauliflower mash, green beans, caprese tofu, and herbed balsamic. They have such a variety of options that cater to a variety of different diets so that everyone can enjoy them!
This was one of the first restaurants I went to when I moved to Tampa for school, and I tend to forget how much I love it. Gourmet Pizza Company has both dairy pizza and non-dairy pizza and meatless options. Their vegan options are extensive and sometimes hard to find, but it is always exciting to see so many options on a menu. My two favorite pizzas are the Happy Buffalo and Vegan B.B.Q.
Freya’s is a hidden gem that I’ve just recently discovered located in St. Petersburg. It’s the sister restaurant to Valhalla Vegan Bakery located right next door. Their menu is considered diner food with a twist including burgers, sandwiches, bowls, salads, snacks, and toasts. I’ve tried the avocado toast, fries, and crispy chickpea wrap, which were amazing. The wrap had curry seasoned crispy chickpeas, slaw, and garlic aioli. This restaurant is a little further from Tampa than the others listed but is worth the drive.
Happy restaurant hopping! I hope you all enjoy it if you decide to try any of the places I’ve listed.
