Catch JudyAnne Jackson perform at Gasparilla Music Fest on Friday, February 16th, 2024 at 5:45 p.m.

On Friday, February 16th, 2024, at 5:45 p.m., Tampa native JudyAnne Jackson will perform at the Gasparilla Music Festival at Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park. I had the chance to interview JudyAnne about her start in the music industry, her dream collaborations, and what she’s looking forward to at GMF this weekend!

As a sixteen-year-old artist, JudyAnne started her music career at a young age. When asked about her start in the music industry, she recalled learning to play piano at five and guitar at eight years old. Being a singer/songwriter is a dream she has held onto since she was “5 years old and went to see Taylor Swift for my first ever concert,”. Swift’s performance inspired JudyAnne to make her dreams a reality, and she knew she would be a singer from then on.

JudyAnne has produced 11 songs and an EP titled Dear Me, which she released in November 2023. She explains her musical style as a mix between country and folk. When asked about a dream collaboration, JudyAnne explained the influence Noah Kahan has had on her recent work and her hopes to collaborate with him in the future.

When asked about her songwriting process, JudyAnne confessed to a phone full of voice memos and notes filled with potential lyrics and melodies. She enjoys co-writing sessions with different songwriters across the country because she likes to “draw inspiration from other writers and bounce ideas between one another”.

Although this isn’t her first time playing GMF, JudyAnne is looking forward to Friday’s performance. She is anticipating playing “EneME,” a song from her latest EP, with a live band. She says playing with a band “gives me a lot of energy and it’s a lot of fun!”. JudyAnne’s performance will begin at 5:45 pm on the Fortune Stage, preceding Tampa native Aidan Bisset. She is excited to perform alongside artists like COIN, Louis the Child, Young the Giant, and more! JudyAnne is looking forward to joining the crowd after her set:

“I love getting to perform and then go watch all the other amazing musicians.”

JudyAnne is grateful for the opportunity to play GMF and expressed her gratitude for the organization, saying, “The Gasparilla Music Festival has always been super supportive of my musical journey,”.
