With UT’s housing policy still thriving, myself as well as many other juniors and seniors have been forced to move off campus. Between traffic, football games, and students who walk fearlessly across the street without looking, here are the top struggles of being a commuter.
1. Having to leave early for class
Gone are the days of rolling out of bed 5 minutes before class and going in your pajamas to your 8 am, only to go right back to bed afterwards. Now everyday is a chance to dress like a functioning human.
2. Having to dodge bucs traffic
If you live anywhere within 3 miles of Dale Mabry, you know about bucs traffic. Having to leave 45 minutes earlier than you usually would just to make it to your destination on time is such a struggle (but at least the players are cute).
3. PARKING
They designate Thomas garage to commuters AND YET THERE ARE SO MANY RESIDENT STICKERS IN THERE. Somebody start handing out tickets before I lose it.
4. Not having a meal plan
“Commuter plans” are just for café and let’s be real: no one is eating there. Salsa Rico, you will be missed.
5. Having to walk back and forth to your car for things
I cant carry everything with me, so at least walking back to my car in between every class is an excuse to skip the gym most days.
Missing my old dorm rooms a little more everyday, but at least we don’t have an RA!
