Every song from “The Greatest Showman” Ranked

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tampa chapter.

The Greatest Showman has been one of the greatest things shown at the theaters so far this year. We’ve all at some point, felt like outsiders, and this film was all about empowering the outcasts and celebrating who you are, instead of chasing after who you think you need to be. Still in theaters, month after the initial release date, super fans can now even attend special sing-along screenings. The film goes on DVD next week, and to commemorate this extraordinary event, we’ve ranked the every song on the soundtrack.

9. “From Now On”

This song is at the bottom of the list, only because it starts so slowly. Once it picks up, it’s really good, but you have to sit through a good minute of blah.

8. “Tightrope”

Michelle Williams just has the most ADORABLE voice.

7. “A Million Dreams”

The choreography for this song really is its greatest quality.

6. “Never Enough”

Is it realistic to have an opera singer, singing a pop song? No. Do we care? Definitely not. It was hard to rank this song because the entire soundtrack is so great. It’s an ironic piece because it’s all about how the riches of the world are fleeting and meaningless, which is a message the film’s main character misses again and again.

5. “The Other Side”

The internal struggle of Zac Efron’s character puts this song in the top five. Will he choose to live comfortably or wealthy? Also, it’s impossible to get this song out of your head.

4. “Rewrite The Stars”

Romeo and Juliet, who? Not only does this song pull at the strings of our hearts, the choreography is amazing. Zac Efron and Zendaya did a spectacular job, and this song makes you want to root for love harder than ever before.

3. “The Greatest Show”

Simply put, this song is pure fun and was the perfect way to start the movie.

2. “Come Alive”

For the first time, in a world that has always kept them in the dark, our heroes can shine. This song is about waking up from the life you were once living. The lyrics to this song go “no more living in the shadows/ You and me, we know how that goes”. Need we say more?

1. “This Is Me”

This was the only song on the entire soundtrack nominated for an Oscar and for good reason. Although the performance at the Academy Awards failed to deliver, this song, paired with such an emotional scene speaks to anyone who has ever struggled with identity (so basically, everyone). Unapologetic and bold, its not possible to listen to this song without getting chills.
