How to Deal with COVID as a College Student

So, unfortunately, I thought I was immune for the past two years. Well, not immune, but long story short: COVID finally got me. I’ve been dreading this moment — but once you test positive, there is not much more you can do other than be optimistic, take care of yourself, and rest up. It definitely hasn’t been easy, especially since school just started back up and my classes are once a week, but these are steps I’ve taken to be productive and keep myself from going crazy.

Shower

It might seem like common sense, but showers really seem to do the trick when I’m sick. I think I’ve taken about three showers today, and although that seems excessive, I feel so much better afterwards. I tend to forget how icky getting sick makes you feel, so this is a great way to refresh, especially if you are in quarantine.

Binge-Watching

Okay, so I don’t recommend just watching any Netflix show, but more specifically, finding one that you can get attached to for quite some time. It will make your quarantine go by faster, and you won’t be wasting your time binging on a regular day once you are out of quarantine.

Good Food

This one can mean something different for everyone. I still have my taste (thankfully), but I don’t really have an appetite. Although, I’ve been trying to enjoy some of my favorite meals which have been helpful. It keeps me energized and feeds my body which is crucial — especially when sick! I also recommend baking as a fun hobby while quarantined.

Computer Work

Currently, I’m trying to get ahead on homework and finish up my graduate school applications. There’s no better time than quarantine to get caught up or get ahead on responsibilities. You will be so grateful once you start to get busy again!

Self-Care

This is a broad one for sure, but includes a variety of tasks. Do your skincare routine, paint your nails, draw or color, do a hair mask, sit on your porch or balcony– whatever self-care means to you is what you should do. Try to do what makes you feel the best and keep your mind calm until you get back to your day-to-day routine.

Stay healthy and stay safe!
