Earlier this month, rapper Kanye West dropped his new album, Vultures 1, co-created with Ty Dolla $ign. This is his first album since Donda, which he released in 2021. Unfortunately, Vultures 1 seems to have provoked controversy instead of acclamation.Â
Throughout his career, Kanye has found himself in the spotlight, both for his musical accomplishments and problematic comments. Fans and critics alike were eager to see if the release of Vultures 1 would restore his reputation. However, this does not seem to be the case. On the day of its release, the musician Ozzy Osbourne tweeted concerning the album’s song “Carnival,” which includes a sample of Osbourne’s song “Iron Man.” In Osbourne’s tweet, he stated that Kanye was denied permission to use this sample, yet included it anyway.Â
“I WANT NO ASSOCIATION WITH THIS MAN,” said Osbourne.Â
What originated as an argument on social media quickly became a legal matter when Osbourne issued Kanye with a cease and desist letter. Kanye has since removed the sample and replaced it with guitar feedback, which appears to have put this conflict to rest.
