If you have scrolled through TikTok over the past year, it is more than likely you have encountered the trend of “the clean girl aesthetic” – a simple and timeless look that goes beyond just a matching sweat set and slicked-back buns. Being a “clean girl” is about more than appearances; it starts from within, being rooted in authenticity and committing to being organized. With that in mind, let’s explore the ten essential steps that shape a day in the life of a clean girl.

  1. Rise and Shine: Make Your Bed 

Begin your day on a productive note by making your bed – a simple yet impactful task that sets the tone for a clean and organized living space. Remember, your bed is meant for rest, not as a lounging spot throughout the day. Value your space and make it a stress-free ambiance to return to at the end of the day. Starting your day off with a positive act will set the tone for a positive day.

  1. Nourish Your Body: Take Those Supplements! 

Prioritize your well-being by incorporating essential supplements into your daily routine. Personally, I kickstart my day with a multivitamin, ensuring a comprehensive intake of vital nutrients crucial for a healthy and energetic lifestyle. Additionally, I have incorporated targeted supplements like hair, skin, and nail vitamins, featuring biotin and collagen for internal and external health support. Including a vitamin B complex has boosted my energy levels and supports my nervous system. It is important to note that supplement choices should align with individual needs, and consulting with a healthcare professional is advisable to ensure a well-rounded approach to health and wellness. 

  1. Strut with Confidence: Hot Girl Walks 

Elevate your clean girl routine by putting on your favorite workout set, popping on headphones with your favorite songs, and incorporating walks into your daily schedule. Whether hitting the gym or strolling around campus, starting the day with physical activity boosts energy levels, enhances mood, and instills a sense of empowerment, even if it is only 30 minutes. These “Hot Girl Walks” contribute to a healthy lifestyle aligning seamlessly with the clean and confident aesthetic you aim to achieve.

  1. Fuel Your Body: Focus on Nutritious and Filling Meals 

Navigating the realm of budget-friendly and nutritious meals in college can be challenging, but it is possible to maintain a clean and mindful aesthetic without breaking the bank. Remember to consider the versatility of eggs and canned tuna, which can easily be transformed into nutritious dishes. You can always find fruits and veggies in your school’s dining hall, ensuring you always have accessible and healthy ingredients. With some planning and creativity, you can foster a clean, mindful meal approach.

Curate a wardrobe of timeless and classic outfits that embrace simplicity and elegance, enhancing your overall aesthetic effortlessly. Go for clean, neutral tones such as whites, creams, and soft pastels, seamlessly blending into the clean girl aesthetic. Build your collection with high-quality basics like crisp white shirts, jeans, simple jewelry, and a clean pair of white sneakers that go with every outfit. Create a closet that allows you to easily mix and match.

Some of my favorite “clean girl” books are Charles Duhigg’s “The Power of Habit” and Brianna Wiest’s “The Mountain Is You.” Remember that we are our best educators and that knowledge is power.

Wrap up your day with soothing relaxation rituals, whether savoring a calming cup of tea, indulging in a skincare routine, or practicing a moment of mindfulness. These activities are ideal for unwinding and setting the stage for a restful night’s sleep. Prioritize a whole night of sleep by aiming to get to bed before 11, as scientific evidence suggests that after this time, your adrenal glands release cortisol, potentially disrupting your sleep cycle and causing nighttime restlessness. Prioritizing a timely bedtime ensures a better chance of achieving the restorative sleep essential for overall well-being.

From starting the day with a productive bed-making ritual to prioritizing well-being through thoughtful supplementation, incorporating physical activity, and maintaining a budget-friendly, nutritious diet.
