2024! New year, new you! And maybe you’re thinking about starting some better habits for this upcoming semester. I know I certainly am. If you’re anything like me and didn’t have any established study times or are a major procrastinator, then you might not have had the best fall semester. But fear not! We’re onto bigger and better things this spring semester!

In order to have what I would refer to as a “second semester slay,” there are a few things you need to establish for yourself. Start by grabbing your planner and organizing all your classes and any important syllabus information, such as your professor’s office hours or when your exams will be. Once you have a preliminary understanding of how your semester is going to look, I encourage you to review your class schedule and your basic life schedule and map out dedicated times to sit down and study. You don’t need to do anything extensive; just find a time to sit down for an hour to get your homework done or finish anything else of importance. This small amount of time can 1) help you avoid procrastinating and 2) assist with your course load and assignment management. My next piece of advice would be to go to your professor’s office hours even if you don’t need help, just so they know your name and understand that you take their class seriously. This can be a huge help in the long run.

These few yet simple changes you can make in your everyday life will ultimately lead you to have a second semester slay!!!
