Taylor Swift has officially premiered her movie, the performance of her Eras Tour. The run time was just under 3 hours, almost matching the run of the live concert. While some songs were cut from the movie, the overall film captured the large scale of the concert, the excitement of the fans, and the talent of Taylor Swift and her cast.Â
From personal experience, having gone on October 13th to see the movie, the audience brought the same energy and excitement as the real concert. Girls dressed up in sequins and Taylor Swift merch, a little boy running around in a Chiefs jersey, and parents singing along in their seats. It brought a different experience compared to a regular movie showing. That being said, there is the argument that some viewers want a regular movie experience and think it is inappropriate to dance and sing along. There is a possible compromise for this; some theaters could offer a more calm viewing, while others encourage more of the concert atmosphere.
With the concert prices being quite high, this also allows Taylor Swift fans who couldn’t go to the concert another way to experience it. The movie also gives good focus to the dancers, band, and backup vocals used in the show. Personally, I was able to see the concert, but my seats were too far back to see what exactly was happening on stage. The movie gives the proper appreciation to the full performance.
