One thing I think that we can collectively agree on is that 2020 has been a raging dumpster fire of a year. More specifically, there was one brief moment from March to July, where everyone seemed to really be feeling the not-so-nice effects of being shut down and in quarantine. I know that I was really feeling down and uncomfortable with how quickly my whole world had changed. Looking back, there were definitely items I already had that helped me get through that time, and there were also some things that could have helped a little more!
With that being said, here are three things that I had and three things I wish I had during my quarantine blues when things got rough.
- Had- Filtered Water Bottle
-
If you are located in Bryan-College Station, you definitely know the STRUGGLE that is our tap water. I always use my lovely Brita pitcher when I’m at home, but it’s difficult to carry a reusable water bottle when I’m out and about because it’s hard to get some decent tasting water around this town! I also don’t want to use plastic water bottles because ya girl cares about our environment. I found that it was really nice to carry my bottle around while I was inside and still have a little feeling of normalcy.
- Had- Frida Kahlo Puzzle
-
There’s really only so much Netflix binging, random DIY projects, and scrolling through social media that I can handle before I start to spiral into the bottomless abyss of boredom. One night, while mindlessly perusing Amazon, I stumbled across this puzzle and decided to order it because it would give me something to do. I totally underestimated this puzzle or completely overestimated my puzzling skills because this took me a few days of hardcore puzzling to complete it. In the end, I was really thankful for the puzzle because it gave me three days of entertainment and was super impressive after I finished it.
- Had-The Ordinary- Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 Serum
-
I feel like it’s not unreasonable to assume that you would be lying if you said you weren’t stressed, and/or concerned, during this little period of time. Experiencing a global pandemic, taking online classes, and witnessing horrific injustices in your country really does something to your skin, take it from me. Around the end of March, I really started to notice how my increased stress and being indoors a lot was taking a toll on my skin, leaving it dry and itchy. I heard about this brand on Instagram and decided to give this serum a try. After about a week or so of consistently using it before my moisturizer, my skin seemed noticeably brighter and more hydrated! I’m still using it regularly and it hasn’t let me down yet, so I consider that a win!
- Wish- Lovesac
-
I have a serious question for you. Do you know what’s better than being sad in bed? Yep, you guessed it, being sad in a Lovesac is much nicer. The first time I laid on a Lovesac and felt the luxuriousness, I knew I couldn’t afford it! I felt like I didn’t belong there, but that didn’t stop me from thinking about it. I still dream of owning a Lovesac and one day I know I’m going to, but until then I’m patiently waiting and working towards Lovesac status!
- Wish- Human Hamster Ball
-
There truly isn’t a better time to own a human hamster ball than now. I honestly don’t know what the CDC has to say about this method of COVID protection, but I could totally have seen myself going to HEB in this to enforce ~social distancing~.Â
- Wish- One Direction
-
As some of us know, One Direction celebrated its 10th anniversary of being a band in July and I was expecting so much more. It ended up making me sort of sad and reminded me of simpler times when all I was worried about was keeping up with my cringy fan account. At the end of the day, I miss One Direction and you already know I’ll be celebrating when they *hopefully* get back together.
