My family planned a trip to San Francisco in October and I have to say, that was not best time to go. I highly advise to go in Summer instead – June to September. But we planned to go in October as all of us had a break and long weekend on account of Columbus Day celebrations.
Day 1
First, we took a day trip on to Yosemite National park. The scenic beauty at the park was contagious truly. The air is exquisitely fresh due to the Sequoia trees. The waterfalls and deep valleys are very captivating. The fascinating enrapture is far behind capturing in cameras. We went camping and rock climbing near El Capitan and Half Dome. There are few viewpoints where the Tunnel View and panorama of the mountains is a wonder to behold. The sceneries with waterfalls and sequoia trees is spellbinding. There are few recreational stops near Yosemite Village also. On our way back to SF in the evening, we also saw Pumpkin Patch in Oakdale. This day trip to Yosemite from SF took us around 12 hours.
Day 2
We took a trip to Muir Woods National Monument, with beautiful Sequoia forest, early in the morning on our second day. Then had a stop at Golden Gate Bridge and headed to the take Alcatraz Island tour in Ferry. The place was truly amazing. It’s in the heart of SF Bay. It has a fort, lighthouse, and prison. There is an option to have a quick cell house tour or take a longer Island visit. After leaving the place in about 2 hours, we roamed around the SF Bay Area on our second day in San Francisco. The weather was too comfortable with a light breeze and a bit of drifts in air..our second day became more enjoyable with the cool weather.
Day 3
We took a city tour on our last day in SF. The bus tour covers all the places in a quick flow and we enjoyed the joyous ride. We also revisited the Golden Gate Bridge on our photo shoot break. If we had time, we would have gone to the Napa Valley too.The Grape vineries are a must visit. As it was October 10th, we had a chance to see the procession of Columbus Day. It was quite enthralling..
To reiterate, this exploit in San Francisco on our long weekend was one of the most memorable things in my life and the memories it imprinted in us are indelible.
Definitely plan a trip to San Francisco if you find time to go on a trip!
