I love love love attending concerts, but let’s be real for a second. If you attend TAMU your in-town concert opportunities are very limited. So, full disclosure, these concerts are going to be at a venue in Houston, a few with other major city locations too. These cities are still relatively close, and I think the concerts listed are well deserving of a quick day trip! I promise you a two hour drive is not that bad, especially when it’s for a fun experience!

The Hails

Feb. 1st @ White oak music hall in Houston, Tx

This band of five is currently on tour following the release of their latest album, What’s Your Motive. They play fun indie music, and if you love Arlie or Kid Bloom, you’ll love this band. This specific performance will be opened by Foxtide, another great band for those who love this genre! Admission is only $15, and if you get there early enough, you could definitely find street parking for free!

Mickey Darling

Feb. 10th @ White Oak Music Hall in Houston, TX

Mickey Darling’s genre is listed as “Indie, Pop”, but this is the type of music that I need to scream at the top of my lungs while ugly dancing to at a concert. This band is based somewhat locally from San Antonio, Texas! The upbeat and fun music is the perfect mood booster. The opener for this tour is Nick Wagen, and admission is only $20! They also have upcoming shows in Dallas and Austin if you happen to be in those cities instead.

The Moss

Feb. 29th @ White Oak Music Hall in Houston, TX

This alternative-indie band from Salt Lake City, UT is coming to Texas this month with shows scheduled in Houston, El Paso, Dallas, and Austin! They played at ACL Music Festival a few months ago, so if you missed them then, now’s the time to attend! If you’re a fan of The Backseat Lovers or Ax and the Hatchetmen, I recommend this band! They’re definitely a personal favorite and I know you’ll be obsessed too. Tickets are only $21, so you basically have no excuse not to attend.

Regardless of whether or not you’ve listened to these bands before, I think going to these concerts would be a great experience for anyone. You could discover new music, have a fun night out, and talk to people with a similar music taste as you! Plus, it’s always fun to have a little road trip after a week full of studying and going to classes. Hopefully I’ll see you there!
