I Attended My First Aggie Baseball Game, Here’s How It Went:

I have been a huge baseball fan my entire life. I think some of my favorite memories growing up were with my dad at Minute Maid Park cheering on the Astros. I honestly can’t remember a time before annoyingly asking my dad when the next game we could go to was. Which is why the fact that I have never attended an Aggie baseball game seems like a betrayal to the college. With my hectic schedule and the semester in full swing, I had not carved out enough time to go. Therefore, I made a vow to myself that I would attend at least one game this month. This past week, I finally made it to Olsen field. This is how my experience went and four things I wish I would have known before the game:

  • Bring your Aggie Spirit

One thing about the Aggies, they’re going to support their team until the very end, no matter the sport. Make sure to deck out in your favorite maroon attire and be ready to cheer the team on to victory. Leave your stress and racing thoughts at the front steps of Blue Bell Park. Take this time to take a break from your racing thoughts, whether that is from school, relationships, etc. Make it a moment to indulge in the Aggie energy, and above everything, have some well deserved fun with fellow Aggie fans!

  • Make Sure Your Purse is Clear

If you bring a purse into the stadium, make sure it is a clear bag. Somehow I forgot about this rule and had to leave my purse in a bush in front of the stadium. Thankfully an Aggie does not lie, cheat or steal!

  • Bring a Blanket for the Grass

I got to the game a little late and had to sit in the grass section of the student section. It was a fun experience and the area had a great view of the game. However, I did strongly regret not bringing a blanket or towel to sit on.

  • Get Some Food

This is a personal favorite when going to baseball games. I think that getting food adds to the entire experience. There’s nothing like eating extra cheesy nachos out of a baseball shaped bowl (they let you keep the cute bowl too!) With one bite comes endless nostalgia flooding my head with happy childhood memories at the games with my family. It may be a game, but the sensation from the lively moments, interactive games, chants, food, players, and people carry on through each experience.

The Aggies keep the game exciting and thrilling through the entire nine innings. The Aggies lived up to the baseball game expectations that I have had. I already can’t wait to attend my next Aggie baseball game, and you should too!
