Hi there, dear reader. They say that friends are the family that we choose, and I could not agree more. Friendship is a precious treasure, and I feel grateful for the beautiful, kind, and loving friends I have every day. They are a big part of my life and, often, inspire my writing. Below is a short poem I wrote for one of my best friends. I hope you enjoy it.

I have a box of things,

Things I found somewhere

Somewhere far from here

And nowhere near your place.

I bring them close to you

Broken as they are

For no one else but you

Could ever make them shine.

Oh, that creative soul of yours

That even withered flowers praise

Hoping you will save them

From their dark and scary fate.

You walk and run,

From left to right,

In that gleamy agave dress that

You made by hand last night.

Smile or open your eyes.

Pick either one but never both at the same time.

Oh, that authentic heart of yours,

So full of love and so sublime.

Adventures in the city of jazz,

Where the lights, coffee, and food were simply divine.

Bright mornings in that wide blue court,

Never could I find another lively mind like yours.

Hello, My name is Brenda. I am a senior student at Texas A&M, majoring in Biomedical Sciences and minoring in Spanish. I have an enormous passion for reading and writing. My favorite movie of all time is Beauty and the Beast, and I dream of becoming a dentist one day.
