My college experience at Texas A&M watching “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish” (I cried)

A college student has to go out on the weekends! After hearing raving reviews about the Puss in Boots movie, I knew I had to go straight to the movie theatre. For y’all Aggies out there, I went to Star Cinema Grill! There is this one shopping center that is one of the go-to places in college station called Century Square, and Star Cinema Grill is located there. Of course, I had to invite my boyfriend for a little date night in college station.

When you walk in, the feeling is grand because not only is the doorway HUGE but there are many shiny lights and a worker there to ask you which tickets you would like. Sounds like the bare minimum, but back in Houston, my hometown, there are movie theatres where the common occurrence is that there are no ticket workers, and you do it yourself with the machine. Having a person to greet you at the door provides a more personable and friendly ambience to the place. One downside was that my boyfriend (Gustavo.. he’ll be annoyed if I don’t name him) and I came in last minute, so the only seats left available were ones at the closest point in the front that you could go. I usually hate being so close to the screen because I did have to strain my neck to see… and I already have neck and back problems from my Scoliosis (fun fact).

Great “dinner and a movie” experience. Their menu is excellent, the drinks are good and the whole date night vibe is achieved. This a great stop to try a different feel of movie night.

We walked in right at the start time, but they were still showing ads, lucky for us! One of the ads that we saw was about this bear that eats a bunch of cocaine. My boyfriend really wanted to watch “Cocaine Bear” but it looked ridiculous (no shade… sorry Cocaine Bear’s director). He still bothers me about going to watch that movie when it comes out… how do I compromise?

Anyways, the movie began, and I immediately felt hungry. This cinema offered food, and all I had to do was ring a button and order food! It was a tad expensive for a college student but totally worth it because the food was a HUGE portion size. I ordered a rich brownie with ice cream and a strawberry milkshake! I was soooo happy. I was also terrified because there was a lot of dairy, and my boyfriend is lactose intolerant but refuses to not let me get it just because of him… sooooo we got it. Anyone have advice on how to make a man do something he refuses to do like stop eating dairy when he’s lactose intolerant? Just me? Send help.

There were so many good parts about the movie. Two words: GREAT ANIMATION.

Here are 7 favorite moments that impacted me!

  1. The WOLF that played the role of DEATH in the movie! He had a theme song that made me get chills!
  2. The cat home with hundreds of different cats was a highlight because I love cats!
  3. Goldilocks and the 3 bears were made into a family with cool and funny accents.
  4. The bad guy of the story was this guy with a huge tool box of magical stuff which was entertaining.
  5. The animation of the background changing over and over again was very impressive!
  6. I cried at the part where Puss in Boots talks to Kitty SoftPaws, the girl cat in the plot and tells her that he would “rather live one life loving her than forever without her”.
  7. In the end, no one gets a wish and has to be happy with what they already have.

Anyways, signing off. Movie Rating: 5/5 STARS
