I know what you’re thinking, Thanksgiving AND a birthday all in one? Yeah, awesome. My name is Anali Ramirez and I was born on Thanksgiving. Specifically, I was born at noon at the kickoff of the Cowboy’s game on November 24, 2002. (This was of course back when the Cowboys were decently good.) Just as the years go by and Thanksgiving changes the day it is on, my birthdate changes as well. Although my birthday wasn’t always on Thanksgiving, it was Pretty Epic when it was.

For this reason, I am a strong believer in waiting until after Thanksgiving to put up all the Christmas lights and to begin to “get in the Christmas spirit”. I force all my family to “chill” with all the Christmas cheer and wait until after Thanksgiving.

I remember one year when my birthday fell on Thanksgiving so my family had a big Thanksgiving and birthday party. One thing that I remember vividly was that we ate so much food we were stuffed for days (or at least I was). All our family being together really meant so much to me at even such a young age; I was just so filled with joy and enthusiasm.

I guess the only thing about having your birthday on a holiday is that your birthday is never celebrated on a school day. With that being said, I have never had to spend my birthday on school grounds. (I know some of you guys are jealous).

For a couple of years one of my family’s Thanksgiving traditions was going to the Dallas Cowboys’ game every Thanksgiving. We had gone ever since we were little and needed babysitters so that my parents could go. Once we got old enough to understand football (even though I still do not), we began to go with them to the games. Every Wednesday before thanksgiving we would sit in 8-hour horrible Thanksgiving traffic just to get to the hotel the day before. One year we even got to see Big Time Rush perform at the Thanksgiving halftime show which was probably the best day of my life.

As the years went on, my birthday has even fallen on black Friday! Some may say the best day of the year. I’ve yet to actually go black Friday shopping but it is definitely on my bucket list.

I also think that it is funny that my birthdate falls on a holiday because my siblings’ birthdates do as well. I’m Thanksgiving, My sister was born on April Fool’s, and my brother was born on St. Patrick’s Day.

I’m not sure if I am just an optimist but I have never really disliked the fact that my birthday fell on Thanksgiving or so close to it. My awesome parents and siblings have always helped me to feel overbearingly special and so extremely celebrated. I have always liked that I could celebrate with my friends beforehand and then get to spend the special day with just my immediate family. Honestly, what is better than getting a lot of good food, getting to sit in your pajamas all day, and getting to spend time with those who you love most!

Howdy! my name is Anali Ramirez and I am a junior psychology major at Texas a&m university. I grew up in Laredo Texas, but moved to New Braunfels during 2020. Some of my goals In life are to spread mental health awareness specifically in college. I feel that this is so important because everyone could be more knowledgeable about the great effects of properly caring for your mental health . I also hope to write a book when I am older and I hope to move to Washington DC in the future. Some of my hobbies are writing, running, taking pictures, going to Starbucks and sonic, and currently I am on the hunt to see who has the best kolache in college station! I love spending time with my family, I'm a huge history buff, and I love shopping! I also babysit 3-4 times a week and I love working with little kids. I feel that this will help me in my goal of becoming a child psychiatrist in the future. Some other fun facts about me are that I am a huge talker! I love to talk, I am not afraid of public speaking and could quite literally strike up a conversation with the wall! I also love learning new things because I truly believe that knowledge ie power!
