Olivia Rodrigo kicked off her tour on February 23rd, 2024 in Palm Springs, California. I had the privilege of attending her stop in Dallas on March 1st. I’m a big Olivia fan, and was ecstatic for my first concert of hers, but there were some unexpected mishaps throughout the night. Upon arriving in Dallas, my friend and I encountered our first trouble: we were stuck in a smoker’s room. Apparently, my friend booked a smoker’s room without knowing and there was no way of backing out, since they were fully booked for the night. My friend and I thought it couldn’t be that bad, but boy was it. When we entered the room, it reeked of cigarettes, not to mention the shape it was left in: dirty sheets, burned curtains, and bed dressers. Immediately, I complained and asked for accommodations, but nothing. Our only option was to change the sheets ourselves, which I was pretty much forced to do. As that incident ended, we headed our way to the concert. We were in section 317 row A. It was such an amazing view! I got to see the entirety of the visual without any obstructions and choreography in its full form. My favorite performance of the night was “ballad of a homeschooled girl” with “driver’s license in a close second”. Honorees go to “logical” and “jealousy, jealousy”. Olivia put on a punky show that shows she’s not a little girl. She had some pretty risque choreography that proves she’s trying to stem away from the tween narrative. Her set alongside her costume choices were gorgeous and fit her songs perfectly. The concert was fun and energetic! Despite the mishaps I had outside the show, Olivia put on a great evening and I left wanting to go to another show! Overall rating, 9/10!
