So…
This is late. Sorry! COVID-19 has been super distracting, but I finally got a chance to sit down and listen to music. Here are my favorite songs from the past two weeks. Click here for the full playlist.
Porches is back on this playlist. Who’s surprised?
Porches (who I discovered is not a band) just released his new album, Ricky Music, this past Friday the 13th. If we’re being honest, I was a bit underwhelmed with this album. The singles previously released are the strongest tracks on the record, but there are definitely some other bangers on here.
Another bit of criticism I have is that Porches has yet to cancel his tour during this pandemic. A lot of venues are rescheduling shows themselves, but Porches has yet to address the fact himself. The artist should be responsible for communicating show rescheduling, not the venue. To me, it’s like he is still promoting his tour during this time. It’s ridiculously irresponsible and half of the ticket holders (like myself) shouldn’t go in order to practice social distancing. Myself and my entire family are immunocompromised, so social distancing is super important for us right now. Continuing to put on an event where hundreds of people are going to be crowded into a tiny room is one of the most dangerous things that Porches could do right now. Hopefully something changes within the next few days, but currently, I’m disappointed.
Update as of 04/02: Porches finally spoke about rescheduling his tour and has been doing virtual concerts on his Instagram livestream. I appreciate how he’s still trying to give people a show, but it’s still upsetting that he took so long to address the pandemic.
Honestly, YouTube is really good at recommending music.
I found this while just letting my YouTube chill on autoplay. This song is super fresh, light, and reminds me of an indie coming of age film. This song would be in the closing scene when all of the kids go home after having the ~best summer of their lives~. Listen and try to tell me otherwise.
My brother walked into the living room where I was sitting and said he just knew I would like this artist. He was right.
This song reminds me of riding with the convertible top down on a sunny day. This pandemic is awful and honestly makes me feel super down, but this song makes me feel a little happier. It makes me feel like I’m outside with my friends, even if I’m just sitting outside in my backyard by myself.
I hope you enjoy this playlist and please stay inside. Pick up a new hobby. Read a book. Learn to cook. Do something, just be socially distant. :)
See ya,
Nadia
