Aggie football is one of the most anticipated events in Aggieland every year. Aggies know how to support their teams and take school spirit to a new level. If you’re attending your first football game at Kyle Field this year and don’t know what to expect, here are 5 tips on how to maximize your experience and be more prepared.
Aggies LIKE TO GET LOUD
If you’re at your first Aggie football game, the volume might be a bit of a shock. However, with the help of A&M’s incredible yell leaders, the crowd always knows how to cheer their team on to victory. Before attending your first game at Kyle Field familiarize yourself with some of the famous Aggie Yells, including “Farmers Fight”, “Gig ‘em, Aggies” etc.
KNOW YOUR LINGO
If you’ve ever been to College Station you’ve most likely been greeted with a Howdy. You’ve probably heard phrases like “good bull”, “bad bull”, or “2 percenter” and had no idea what the person was referring to. If this is true for you, you’re not alone. I’ve been a student at Texas A&M for two years and I still don’t know all of the lingo used around campus. Some of the most common ones exchanged at Kyle Field are “good bull” which is said when something good happens and “bad bull” which is the opposite. A 2 percenter is a student who only attends classes and doesn’t get involved in other activities around campus.
get YOUR GEAR
Aggies go all out repping their maroon outfits, boots, jerseys, and 12th man towels. Aggie Warehouse is filled with a variety of outfits and merchandise perfect for game day. However, as long as your Aggie spirit is exhibited in your outfit you will be game day ready.
aTTEND MIDNIGHT YELL
Midnight Yell is a perfect opportunity to learn the yells that the yell leaders will be using for the game. It’s usually held the night before the game and is a chance to get super hyped up with your fellow Aggies.
Remember have fun and don’t be a 2 percenter!
