COLLEGE STATION, Dec 9th, 2022 – The 10th annual BCS Marathon will be held this Sunday, December 11th, 2022 at 7 AM CST. The Bryan-College Station Marathon is currently ranked the highest rated marathon in Texas. Both the full and half marathon will start and finish at Wolf Pen Creek Park.

This year’s race is being organized by Mercy Project (and their staff), a marathon planning committee, and Chris Field. Chris Field is the founder of both the Mercy Project and the BCS Marathon. The Baylor Scott & White Medical Center, College Station is the title sponsor of this event and the official medical provider.

All proceeds for this event are donated to local children’s charities. The charities being donated to this year are the Mercy Project (working to eradicate child slavery in Africa), Scotty’s House (a child advocacy center for abused children), and the Brazos Valley Food Bank BackPack Program (providing backpacks of food for children each Friday).

There is a lot of work that goes into this event, for the organizers and the racers. Race day amenities include on course support (water/Gatorade, medical, and fueling stations with crowd support) and a post-race party with food, drinks, and live entertainment.

Jamie Welin, an athlete on the Texas A&M Triathlon team, states that “this should be a fun race…I’ve raced this course before and PR’d, so I’m hoping to do that again this year.” Leading up to the race, he had a consistent training schedule, an organized diet, and focused on preparing himself. “Half of this race is physically daunting, but the other half is completely mental,” Welin stated.

Good luck to everyone running this weekend! Anyone wanting to support the runners can cheer them on at any of the spectator spots on the map.
